Citing the SWOOP Index
The SWOOP Index rates every credible transfer rumour by how likely it is to happen, as a percentage. You’re welcome to quote it, with a credit and a link.
Name it, time it, link it
“[Player]’s move to [Club] is rated at 72% on the SWOOP Index (3 Feb, 14:00).”
- Say “the SWOOP Index”, and give the time: the number moves as reporting lands.
- Link to the moment you quoted. Every transfer page has a “Cite this” box with a permanent link that always shows the Index as it stood then, even after it changes.
- It’s a probability, not a report. Please don’t write “SWOOP reports” or “SWOOP sources say”: we don’t break news, we weigh it. The original reporters are credited and linked on every page.
- Our fans’ figure is separate. It never changes the Index, and it isn’t the SWOOP Index.
How it’s worked out
Each credible report counts according to the source’s track record, how far along the deal it says things are, and how recent it is. Repeats of someone else’s story are folded in, not counted again. A move only counts as done when the club or league confirms it.
Every figure we’ve ever shown is stored, timestamped and never edited afterwards, so anything we said can be checked. The current model is ti-engine-1.1; when it changes, old figures keep the version that produced them.
How accurate is it?
Honestly, it’s too early to say: 0 transfers have settled so far, and we won’t claim an accuracy figure until there are enough to mean something. The record builds window by window, misses included. See the track record
Independence
- No betting partners, odds or affiliate links.
- No paid placement: nobody can pay to move a number.
- Corrections are made in the open, and the original figure stays on the record.
